Personality: Eusine is one of those people that leaves a lasting impression on almost everyone he meets. He certainly makes an effort to stand out of the crowd, and he is one person you will not soon forget your encounter with. In short he is a somewhat eccentric, and very outgoing individual bursting with confidence and enthusiasm. He comes off as fairly proud and vain, almost to the point of arrogance at times, but is also well-meaning and friendly. He definitely makes for interesting company, too.
One of the most notable things about Eusine, aside from his dashing (in his opinion) good looks and driven personality, is his obsession with the Pokémon Suicune. It's one of his life pursuits and biggest dream to someday become partners with the legendary beast, and he is quite sure of himself that he is worthy of this honor and that it's indeed a task he can accomplish, no matter how long it takes.
Even if he can become cocky about his ambitions, his seemingly limitless persistence towards a difficult task is undoubtedly admirable, and he won't stoop to playing dirty or pushing anyone out of the way when it comes to the competition. This is part because he desires to be an honest and chivalrous companion for Suicune, and also part because he believes that no one else could possibly stand a chance against him when it comes to winning over the sought out Pokémon! That said, if he begins to feel like he has gained a formidable rival, he can become quite jealous of them, but surprisingly encouraging.
He tries to never let jealously get the better of him, and will respect and compliment any trainer that proves they have him outmatched, but it can take a bit of time for him to actually admit this. He prefers to keep up the confident front, but he does indeed know when he has been bested.
On the inside he does have a few self doubts, but he never wants any of this exposed. He keeps himself moving forward with the drive he does because he feels that if he keeps telling himself he can do something, then he can. He dislikes dwelling on doubtful moments for long when they do arise, and will quickly bounce back to his usual self if ever he seems a little down for a while.
Eusine also has the tendency to get very emotional and gush about things he is passionate about, particularly Suicune and other legends. He hugely admires both beauty and strength, and Suicune is a perfect combination of both of those qualities.
Backstory: Eusine was born and raised in the region of Kanto, more specifically in the massive and bustling Celadon City, where he lived with his parents and grandfather. He grew up on tales of legends told to him by his grandpa and was captivated by the descriptions woven of these powerful and elusive Pokémon. He loved hearing the same stories over and over when he was younger, and enjoyed paging through illustrations almost every day. They inspired him, and he decided that more than anything he would like to meet them one day, or even capture one! He was often teased as a child because he talked about these legends constantly, but this made him more determined to prove to everyone he was capable of finding them.
Suicune always stood out in particular to a young Eusine because of how beautiful he found the artists' renditions of it in his grandfather's books. It was his favorite out of all the legendaries he was told about, and he found its powers amazing as well. Growing up in a city that was developing a huge pollution problem, he thought to the tale of suicune purifying water simply by touching it and dreamed of having it come and make his hometown a better place to live in. When he was a teenager, he made it his mission to find suicune not only to help out Celadon and become a hero, (maybe show off a little too,) but to become the beast's lifetime companion. He wanted not simply to capture Suicune, but to earn its respect and friendship alongside an unwavering loyalty. He wanted a duo of himself and Suicune to become a team that other people would admire and deem heroic.
So therefore, when he was ready he set off on an exploration in search of the legendary beasts. Eventually his quest brought him to Ecruteak after looking high and low for signs of Suicune, and that is where he met and befriended the newly-appointed gym leader, Morty. They were a rather odd pair of friends, seeing how Eusine was loud and outgoing while Morty was quieter and withdrawn, but they got along remarkably well and enjoyed each others' company. Eusine was especially happy to have a friend he could discuss legendaries with.
He ended up spending a lot of time in Ecruteak on his first visit because it was filled with so many legends of its own. It was a fascinating city to stay in, so he lingered there longer than he had anywhere else before moving on again.
He always found himself coming back to Ecruteak, however, as it seemed to be the best lead he had; not to mention he had someone there willing to help him out.
During one of these visits he ran into an interesting young trainer exploring the city's old sacred towers. It was only minutes following this meeting when right before both of their very eyes raced Suicune out of the Burned Tower and into the vast land of Johto. This trainer had apparently triggered its awakening.
After ten years of searching for the beast he had finally glimpsed Suicune in the flesh, and this fueled his determination like never before. He set off in hot pursuit across Johto, and even back again to Kanto as he followed the legend. Along the way, he kept running into that same young trainer several times, who was clearly intrigued by Suicune as well and interested in facing it in battle. Eusine became a bit uneasy about this new competition, as he could never win a challenge against them, but didn't let it get to him and even decided to help this trainer along the way.
Eventually the trainer ended up facing Suicune as Eusine watched, and they managed to best it in a match. Suicune was not captured, but came to honor this trainer as a worthy opponent before leaving again. Eusine was awestruck. After congratulating the trainer he left and spent some time wondering whether or not he should try to pursue beast again, and during that break lost its trail.
Not sure what step to take next, he visited home again in Celadon next, and it was this visit that got him fired up again about his dream.
The past several years he's been at it, but has also been researching a variety of other legends as well. They all fascinate him, and he would love to get even just a glimpse of them, like he did Suicune. Befriending the Pokémon of the North Wind will always remain his number one goal, but he is taking it a little bit easier than before and trying to think of how he can better himself as a person for Suicune's future judgement.
Appearance: [x] Eusine has light blue eyes, and dark blond hair that is always well groomed. He dresses in a somewhat flamboyant style, often with a bow tie and cape, making him either appear handsomely dressed or very odd looking depending on the observer's opinion and personal fashion sense. His outfits make him very easy to notice most of the time, and it's obvious he's put some thought into them.
Pokémon:
Milo Jolly/Good perseverance
Milo was Eusine's first Pokémon of his very own, gifted to him by his grandfather as a voltorb when the boy was eleven years old. Eusine was told that he'd "need a good electric type by his side if he wanted a chance at catching Suicune." Encouraged by this, Eusine worked hard at training his voltorb until it evolved into an electrode.
Milo is a very upbeat and enthusiastic Pokémon, much like his trainer, and enjoys their crazy adventures as much as Eusine himself does. He's often seen in a good mood and always raring to go racing off to a new town or jump into a fight. He's full of a lot of energy, and has sometimes accidentally shocked his trainer when he's become too excited.
Eusine will sometimes ride on top of Milo to get from place to place quickly, as the electrode can suspend himself a bit above the ground using electric surges, and speed around very quickly. It has taken some practice to accomplish this without falling off.
Mortimer M/Hasty/Mischievous
Mortimer was a ghastly Eusine caught after he came to Johto. Once he met Morty in Ecruteak, he heard a lot about ghost types from the gym leader and was intrigued by their abilities. More specifically, their Mean Look attack sounded like it would be a very useful thing to have around in pursuit of a legendary that was constantly on the run. He asked Morty to help him find himself a ghost Pokémon to capture, and his friend obliged him.
Morty, of course, managed to easily lead Eusine to some ghost types because of his experience with them, and Eusine managed to snag one. He thought it would be hilarious to name it 'Mortimer' after Morty himself, even though he was corrected that 'Morty' was not in fact short for Mortimer just as he was chuckling about the nickname. He kept it, anyways.
Mortimer is what you'd expect from your typical ghost type. He enjoys messing around and playing pranks on both others and his own trainer. Although Eusine had been impatient with the ghastly's antics at first, his gym leader friend helped him out here and taught him more about handling this specialty of Pokémon. It took Eusine quite some time to make him take anything seriously, but Mortimer proved himself to be a capable battler whenever he decided to stop fooling around. He evolved into a haunter once him and Eusine started getting along better, and though he is still very mischievous, his trainer's learned to embrace this side of him.
Charlie M/Quirky/Loves to eat
Charlie was a farfetch'd Eusine came across in Kanto shortly after his break from following Suicune. Excited that he had found such a rare Pokémon on pure luck, he ran after it. Although it was quite the chase, and Eusine found himself running in circles for over an hour, he managed to corner and capture the flying type.
Eusine is proud of this catch, despite the fact that Charlie isn't the strongest Pokémon in the world. His false swipe certainly comes in handy, and he can carry his trainer for short distances, but he is still rather lacking in the attack department.
Charlie is a very awkward, often clumsy bird but is still determined to try hard and do his best for his trainer.
Pippin M/Naive/Highly curious
Pippin was a pichu that spotted Eusine's bright colors during one of his stops in Goldenrod and proceeded to follow him around the city because it found him so different and interesting. The trainer eventually took notice of the little mouse trailing him, but paid little mind to it until he realized that even after days, it was still around. Considering the fact that another electric type could definitely come in handy up against Suicune, he decided to let Pippin join him despite the fact the Pokémon was still very young and inexperienced.
Pippin is a very bright and happy little Pokémon, but very childish and perhaps too curious for his own good. He'll often land himself into trouble, and is still trying to work on becoming a decent fighter, but Eusine is very forgiving towards him because the little ball of energy is too adorable to get mad at. His trainer especially admires that the pichu is so persistent and brave for its young age, and expects he will be a spectacular battling companion once he evolves and matures.
Laurence M/Timid/Alert to sounds
This stantler was captured by Eusine around Ecruteak because he needed another Pokémon that was known for its hypnotic abilities after he left his drowsee back at home. Laurence was a fairly easy catch for Eusine, as he was not quite as stubborn as many other of his species the trainer came across.
Laurence is a very docile and quiet Pokémon, preferring to keep out of battles when he can, and using abilities to pacify the foe from a distance first and foremost when he does. He is very skilled at confusing and putting his enemies to sleep, which was just what Eusine wanted out of him. He'll become more confident about using actual physical attacks once his opponent is too disoriented to fight back much, but until then he avoids coming too close.
Victoria F/Serious/Quick tempered
Eusine was looking for a stronger Pokémon that could learn the move False Swipe, so a scyther was just what he needed. He caught Victoria in Johto's National Park, and she certainly put up the biggest fight out of all of Eusine's captures. This scyther did not want to join him, and still has yet to warm up to her new master.
She is still sometimes bitter about being caught, and very stubborn about being told what to do. She enjoys showing off how strong and quick she is, but will only listen to Eusine's commands if she feels like it. He is having a lot of difficulty trying to control her at the moment.
Others: Eusine owns a drowsee named Mickey that he caught for its hypnosis abilities before he first left Kanto, but it is currently taking a break and living with his family.
