Blue Oak
Male/20/Viridian City Gym Leader
Personality: Blue has always been notoriously cocky, though he has humbled slightly as he aged. He talks casually to everyone despite whatever authority or position they hold. He's somewhat impatient and doesn't like staying in the same place for too long, which is why the life of a free-roaming always appealed to him. He still goes out on frequent excursions, much to the annoyance of those who want to challenge him.
Backstory: Blue was born in Pallet Town, grandson of the famous Professor Oak. His parents, accomplished trainers in their own right, died in an accident when he was young, causing the esteemed professor to take in him and his sister, Daisy. Blue doesn't like to talk about the event that orphaned him, and bringing it up is one of the fastest ways to end a conversation with him.
Pallet Town being the size that it is, there were only two other children for Blue to play with: Red and Leaf. They got along very well together, until Blue decided that he was too cool to hang around with a smelly girl and a mute, which led to an argument that alienated the three from each other until around the time they began their Pokémon adventure. Bringing up the argument is the third-fastest way to end a conversation with him.
When he finally got his first Pokémon from his grandfather, he made it his goal to become the Champion. While Blue enjoyed the attention being the grandson of a famous Pokémon Professor brought him, he wanted to be famous in his own light, and decided that by becoming the Champion he would eclipse his grandfather's fame.
What started as friendly competition with Red turned into a heated rivalry. At first he thought that his initial loss to Red was a fluke, causing him to claim that he had chosen the "wrong Pokémon." As the losses stacked up, however, it became clear to Blue that Red was definitely a threat to his dream. Blue focused solely on training, and the Team Rocket invasion of Silph Co. was simply an opportunity to get some more training in before the next Gym. Blue always seemed to be a step ahead of Red in progress and a step behind in power.
Eventually, Blue finally achieved his dream and became the Champion, only for Red to arrive five minutes later to challenge him for the title. Despite Blue's best efforts and a long and hard-fought fight between his Pokémon and Red's, Blue was dethroned when his reign as Champion had barely began.
After being scolded by his grandfather for not caring for his Pokémon enough and Red leaving for the Hall of Fame without saying a word to the former Champion and childhood friend, Blue was left behind in despair. On his way home, he once again blamed his starter for not being good enough to beat Red's, and released him in a blind moment of rage. He immediately regretted the decision, and has been searching for him ever since. Bringing that moment up is the second-fastest way to end a conversation with him.
After Giovanni's disappearance, Blue replaced him as the leader of the Viridian Gym, though he continued to travel around Kanto. Blue tried to improve his bonds with both his Pokémon and childhood friends, and now frequently talks with Red and Leaf when the opportunity arises.

Pokémon:
Aerodactyl: Male, Hasty, Likes to thrash about. The scientists at Cinnabar Island gave Aerodactyl to Blue as a gift for assisting in the relief efforts to the island after its volcano erupted. While he's relatively new to the team, Aerodactyl is still a force to be reckoned with. He's on good terms with the rest of Blue's team, though he can be rather hyper at times.
Exeggutor: Male, Quiet, Often lost in thought. Exeggutor is a thinker, and doesn't interact very much with the rest of the team. His quiet and spacy demeanor is misleading when it comes battle, as he's very in-your-face and aggressive in a fight.
Gyrados: Male, Adamant, Alert to sounds. Sold to Blue as a Magikarp when when he was still a young and inexperienced trainer. When Blue discovered that Magikarp was virtually worthless until it evolved, his first instinct was to throw him away. However, he decided to keep working with him until he was powerful enough to include in his party, for which Gyrados repays Blue by being one of the most loyal and hard-working members of his party.
Alakazam: Male, Modest, Highly curious. It was his curious nature that kept him from teleporting away immediately when he was in the wild. He reached his final stage by Blue trading him to Professor Oak and back. Always ready to offer Blue and his party advice while remaining obedient and humble, Alakazam is one of the most likable members of the party and is on good terms with everyone. He serves as a level-headed counterpart to Blue when his trainer gets impatient and impulsive, though this doesn't happen so much anymore as it did in Blue's early career as a trainer.
Arcanine: Male, Jolly, Likes to run. Almost always energetic and happy, people tend to either love Blue's Arcanine, or think he's the most annoying thing to ever invade their personal space. Loves being used as a heated blanket. Enjoys his battles, and pretty much everything else. The only time he's not happy is when Blue or another one of his teammates aren't happy.
Machamp: Male, Naughty, Likes to fight. Super-competitive and cocky, Machamp likes to think that he's the star of Blue's team. While he evolved on the same day and in the same manor as Alakazam, the two are completely different, and Machamp often looks for a fight to settle their disagreements despite the colossal disadvantage he has. Loves battles whether he wins or loses, but comes off as a bit of a sore loser since he blames all of his loses on some sort of fluke.
