Gunnar
Male | 16 | Trainer
Male | 16 | Trainer
Personality: Gunnar is a very quiet boy. He rarely talks unless spoken to and would never approach anyone he didn't know unless he had a very good reason. It is hard to get to know him as he is not one to go out of his way looking for company (though he wouldn't turn it down if it was offered, either). Despite his aloof nature, he is kindhearted and would help anyone in need without being prompted.
Backstory: Gunnar was orphaned by a car wreck when he was just five years old. He was placed in an orphanage with nothing but the poochyena his parents had given him shortly before they died. Because of his quiet, unassertive nature he was often picked on. There was only one nanny that worked there that was kind to him; a young woman that had quite the soft spot for him. He adored her, but it wasn't enough to keep him there.
When Gunnar was ten Wolf tried to defend him against a bully and bit one of the other kids at the orphanage. The supervisor at the orphanage demanded that the poochyena be dealt with severely. Gunnar couldn't deal with that. He took Wolf and his few belongings and left the orphanage in the middle of the night. He lived on the streets for a while, though occasionally he was caught and sent back to the orphanage, but each time he ran away. Eventually they gave up on looking for him, though they still have the police notified to keep an eye out.
He wasn't exactly a law-abiding citizen. Stealing was not above him, and that often got him in trouble. When he was thirteen he was running from the cops after stealing from a Pokemart he ran into his old nanny. She knew she could not convince him to go back to the orphanage, nor would he ever be happy there. She gave him her lapras, X-Ray, so that he could escape from the cops across the water.
He saved the life of a lairon that had fallen down and gotten stuck in a sewer (to this day no one is sure why he was wandering around a city in the first place). With the help of his lapras' strength they managed to rig together a pulley system to pull him out. Krypton felt forever indebted to Gunnar and stuck with him. The lairon loved to battle, so Gunnar picked it up for a while. It didn't last long, however, as Gunnar found it drew too much attention on the streets, so he decided to only battle when necessary.
Appearance: Gunnar is a large fellow. He stands at 5'10" and has broad shoulders and a burly build. He can seem a bit intimidating to those that don't know that he couldn't hurt a fly. He usually wears a black and grey jackets, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes. His hair is short, spiky, and dark brown. His face is usually emotionless.
Pokémon:
Wolf
Mightyena | Male | Adamant
Wolf is extremely protective of his trainer. He is quite stubborn and often suspicious of newcomers. Though if he knows someone is a friend of Gunnar's, even if he doesn't like them, he would defend them as fiercely as he does Gunnar. He hates his Pokéball and stays outside at all times. Gunnar knows that Wolf would never forgive him if he ever forced him into a pokéball, even if he's fainted. This is due to the fact that he was in his Pokéball when Gunnar's parents got into the wreck that killed them, and he felt that if he was running loose he could have grabbed the kid that ran out into the road to cause the wreck and stop the whole thing from happening.
X-Ray
Lapras | Female | Gentle
X-Ray is a softhearted gentle soul. She mostly dislikes battling, but if Gunnar needs her she will not hesitate. He mostly uses her for transport across water. She is very quiet and likes to watch her surroundings with an observant gaze. A gift from one of Gunnar's old caretakers, she is a constant reminder of the place he came from.
Krypton
Aggron | Male | Serious
Krypton is a very proud Pokémon. He hates losing and will sulk for days if he loses a battle. He has many scars on his body that he wears proudly and shows off like medals of honor. He was quite disappointed when Gunnar started battling less, but he is too loyal to his trainer to try to do anything about it. Gunnar saved his life and he feels forever in the trainer's debt and will do anything for him.
