Drew Dilling
Male | 14 | Misguided Hero
Male | 14 | Misguided Hero
Personality: Drew generally likes to consider himself as a nice guy. He tries to be a good listener, makes kind greetings to strangers, all that kind of stuff. He also tends to make a lot of (usually bad) jokes, but they're usually clearly not meant to be taken seriously, even when he's teasing a friend. Drew also tends to dabble a little in drawing and writing (but he recognizes that he's not very good at it and thus tries to not show anyone his drawings or stories). He's also a little rash, and tends to jump the gun a lot.
However, Drew also has a serious condition known as "Hero Syndrome". Hero Syndrome is when someone feels not only like they always have to save someone (and Drew thus hates being saved by others), but it can get to the point where they cause problems to danger people just so they can save everyone from it. Though he hasn't tried to do anything big since he moved out of Hoenn, he still occasionally causes small problems to be able to resolve them, though his friends are generally none-the-wiser.
Backstory: Drew was originally from Hoenn- Fortree City, to be exact. He lived there with his Mom and Dad happily until he was ten, having tons of fun there with the other kids and exploring all of the cities crannies and nooks. However, when he was about to get a Pok?mon, he saw a man in a black hoodie walking up to the Pok?balls, so- assuming he was trying to steal the Pok?balls- Drew grabbed the Pok?ball with a Torchic in it, let the Torchic out, and made it attack the man. When the Torchic scratched the hoodie to shreds, though, Drew saw that it was actually the professor, wearing a hoodie due to the cold weather.
Because of the incident, the professor refused to give him a Pok?mon because he thought he was untrustworthy with one and may jump the gun too much and attack innocent people. The parents agreed, and for a while, they were happy again. However, at the age of twelve, Drew started getting a huge fondness for people praising him and calling him great, and though his parents thought this a little worrisome, they didn't find it to be a huge problem.
However, when he was thirteen, his parents caught him with a lighter in his hand, holding it up against the side of his house. He was going to attempt to set the city aflame so he could warn everyone and have everyone think he was their savior. His parents became really worried about this, and they ended up sending him to his grandmother in Azalea Town, Johto, because they both didn't know how to help him with that and didn't know that.
He hasn't tried to cause any huge problems to be praised in a while, but he still causes some small problems (such as causing friends to fight to make them make up with each other). He was also finally trusted with Pok?mon against once he caught the Zubat and told his Grandma the story of how he got it. He's recently been debating on whether to go on an adventure or not, but for the moment, he still resides there.
Pokémon:
Lucy
Female | Timid | Quick to flee
Lucy was Drew's first Pokémon, which he met when he heard cries coming from Union Cave. He went in to investigate, and he saw a lot of Geodude's attacking the battered Zubat. At first he, without thinking, simply tried to charge in and pull the Zubat away, but they easily knocked him away and landed him flat on his back. When Drew got up once more, though, he had more time to think, and this time simply threw a Pokéball at the Zubat (which he carried around despite not being allowed to have Pok?mon at that point), which- thanks to it being battered by the Geodudes- was successfully caught. The Geodudes, thankfully being unaware of how Pokéballs worked, simply thought she disappeared and left.
Although Drew has kept Lucy ever since, if he was completely honest, he'd say that's it's not very good at battling and probably the weakest member of his team- in fact, it's really not very good at battling in general. Its only STAB move is Wing Attack and it has both not very good stats and the lack of confidence to put its all into attacking. However, Drew has none-the-less grew a connection with the Pokémon and doesn't want it to get bullied in the wild again, and thus refuses to release it.
Carol
Female | Hasty | Highly curious
Drew first met Carol when he was walking through his home town, Azalea. He was walking back to his house when the little Eevee ran up to him, and started to rub up against his leg. Drew bent down to pet it, but the Eevee ran off, and Drew thought nothing of it at first. However, this happened day after day, until eventually, Drew became so pissed off about it that he ended up using an Ultra Ball on it when it rubbed up against his leg so that it couldn't run away like usual. Though he felt bad about it and tried to release it afterwards, the Eevee seemed to grow attached to him- whether it was from something in the Pokéball or just growing respect for him he's unsure- and wouldn't leave, until he decided to catch it again.
Though the Carol can get on Drew's nerves sometimes with how it always runs around, he doesn't deny that it's a very good fighter, and despite how it occasionally annoys him he finds that Carol has more charm in her than anything.
Damien
Male | Adamant | Somewhat stubborn
Drew's mother sent him the Duskull egg after her own Dusknoir ended up breeding it. Though it took a very long time for him to hatch as he didn't own a bi-cycle, he didn't regret it once it finally did come out of the egg. Drew initially only kept Damien on the team as a memento of his mom, as the Duskull was very reluctant to follow orders at first, but once he and the Duskull began to grew closer and have more experience with each other, Drew began to appreciate the Duskull much more (starting with when it destroyed another trainer's team of four who was around the same level single handedly).
Though his Duskull is a very powerful fighter- probably the best on the team- that's the main reason why Drew's a little scared of him. It seems to take joy in fighting others and wounding them to the point where sometimes it's hard for Drew to convince it to stop. Drew still keeps it on the team and mostly trusts Duskull, though, because for the most part it does stop when Drew tells him to, and it's yet to seriously injure a Pokémon or attack any Pokémon on Drew's team (or Drew himself for that matter).
