-Falkner-
Male/18/Gym Leader
Personality: Falkner is sure of himself, people may think he is the weakest link in the league for being the one that has less time with the job, and he takes very seriously his job at shutting them up with his father's pokémon. His father trusts in him to maintain an honorable image of the gym and the city as one of it's unspoken leaders, trusts he takes to the heart and is by consequence very hard working and likes to look for the interests of people.
He takes a bit of time to get people to know him, and people will most probably know something about his father than from Falkner when talking to him.
Backstory: Only son to Violet City's Gym leader, Hayato, Falkner was surrounded by birds since his birth. He grew up alone with his father, learning everything that could be learned about Flying-type pokémon, mostly those resembling birds.
Being his dad the Gym leader, he was quite lonely in his childhood, and his education was taken up by the monks in sprout tower. Contrary to popular belief, there were not only elderly monks guarding the tower, but a whole school dedicated to it's preservation, their teachings bordering on religion but focusing more on spiritual aspect. He came to adopt these beliefs very early on his life and inmersing himself on traditions that were starting to be forgotten, such as handling weapons and martial arts, even as he never handled a sword in his life up until this moment, learning instead with wooden staffs and only the basics of defense. This regimen alongside with treating the monk's school as a second home caused him to adopt a more traditional way of dressing up, albeit still modifying it.
In addition to learning with the monks, he spent so much time with his father he started to learn the finer points of battling and how to manage flying types against the odds, especially when the majority brought super effective types to the gym. He also spent time patching up some of the injuries not caused by battling such as pulling pin feathers accidentally.
He caught his first pokémon, a HootHoot at an early age. He soon discovered that it was not an exactly normal HootHoot as it knew some moves that it could not learn naturally by itself the first time he found himself buried in a mountain of feathers. HootHoots and neither Noctowls could learn FeatherDance. He cherished it quite a lot, following him constantly, perching on his shoulder or hovering until his evolution and still remained close to him at all times.
He did expand his pokémon apart from birds, as he caught a Zubat, to take on a new challenge as he knew nothing of it compared to the other birds. This was especially true when he was given the opportunity to train an Aerodactyl when he became Gym leader.
Eventually, his father grew up restless, as he had been a travelling trainer for most part of his life. Falkner, having stayed in one place all his life couldn't understand why, but accepted the fact and agreed to become the new gym leader in his stead, using the pokémon he left behind to battle challengers. It proved frustrating at times when he hadn't gained the respect of a few of the higher leveled ones.
He would have become closed off if not for his traditions and regularly visited Ecruteak. He did eventually become friends of Morty after realizing he was a fellow gym leader and he could talk about the mighty legendaries, both flying types. Becoming Jasmine and Whitney's friend was more of a chance encounter when he entered the league and found they were common friends with Morty.
Eventually, he did train his own pokémon, sometimes offspring from his parent's pokémon and resulting in bizarre accidents, such as the time he discovered his Pidgey could use Brave Bird and collided with the wall at not being able to control it. Sometimes they were pokémon from other regions he found once or twice in a swarm. Even then, he still regularly uses his father's pokémon against challengers, because he knows they miss their trainer as much as he does and they cannot go on without doing anything.
As of lately, he has become more extroverted, meeting fellow gym leaders and bonding, such as Janice about their respective fathers. He is still in charge of the gym and sometimes he visits other regions for distinct reasons.
Appearance:
Falkner stands at 1.64 (5'3 ft) sans hair, however he still has a couple of small growth spurts to go on. He has tame blue hair that brushes his shoulders, styled in a way that a large fringe obscures the left side of his face.
His eyes are a blue color and he tends to use traditional clothing more often than not except to sleep. He can usually be seen with a blue haori cut at the knees without sleeves, a lighter blue kosode that goes up to his elbows, white socks, black sandals and black and red arm bands.
Pokémon:
