What a splendid day! It was the first time he had ventured out of Unova and yet he wondered why he hadn't done a thing such like this before. The smell of smoke coming from the town rather than overpower the fragrance of the trees and grass complimented it. The few and scarce silvers of light that made it through the canopy of trees revealed quite an interesting and unusual landscape. Burgh was putting final touches on a portrait when he spotted something in the corner out of his eye, a Caterpie.
Of course Burgh didn't know that was how it was named, and yet he knew by sight alone that it was definitely a bug. Caterpies were remarkably similar to Sewaddles, so he nudged Escavalier at his side and decided to follow it from a distance, best not to scare it.
From afar he kept sketching quick lines whenever they stopped, it was fascinating indeed to observe how similar and yet how different the routines of bugs were. He was startled however, when the Caterpie began to evolve, and changed quite drastically to have a tough exterior. Then the now Metapod let loose a string shot and attached itself to a tree, sleeping away until evolution. Once more again after taking necessary sketches, he began to cling a tree directly in front of the Metapod, and decided to wait a while. Hanging from a rope and wrapped in his green cloak, one from afar could very well easily mistake him for a giant Metapod.

"Be quiet, Chaos," Doctor Rivera shushed her chattering friend; a murkrow perched on her shoulder. "I think I see...is that a...?" Chaos fell into a pouting silence, unhappy with her lack of attention. She ignored him and crept along the path, staring at what appeared to be an enormous metapod.
It was her first day off of work in several weeks, so Rivera had decided to take a walk through the forest along with her two Pok?mon; Chaos and Epic the abra (who was timidly following close to Rivera's legs).
But even on her days off she was still a scientist. She immediately whipped out a pocket notebook and small pencil from an inside pocket of her jacket as she crept closer to the giant cocoon. She had never seen any bug Pok?mon so large! Excitement rose as she watched, but suddenly Chaos flew off her shoulder and toward the metapod.
"Chaos, stop!" Rivera said in the loudest whisper she could manage. But it was too late. The murkrow flew at the figure and started poking it with his beak with enough force to make it swing from its rope.

While this was no different as clinging like a Sewaddle in theory, practice was very different. For instance, he had never been poked repeatedly when he was wrapped. Or poked as forcefully.
He heard first the rustle of grass where Escavalier was and later heard his indignant calls. Grabbing the impulse of the swnging rope he let go of it and landed with a flourish, hearing an indignant squack and a gasp. It was a good thing he had gone out when he did, or Escavalier would have skewered whatever was poking at him in the first place. Looking up, he noticed it was compromised of a young lady, a scientist for the look of the lab coat, a Murkrow and an abra.

"Chaos," Rivera snapped at the bird in a stern voice. The murkrow cawed in an unmistakable cackling laugh and flew back to Rivera's shoulder, her glaring eyes following his motion. Once he was back and she was sure he wouldn't try to fly off again, she turned her attention to the "metapod".
"Oh, it's just a person," she muttered in slight disappointment before raising her voice and calling out to him. "Hey, are you all right?" she called. "Sorry about my murkrow, he'll behave now." She adjusted her black-rimmed glasses, giving the man an embarrassed grin. Epic stood behind her, clinging to her coat as he watched the strange man.

"Oh, I should be the one apologizing. I should've known that people might behave differently here when faced with such situaton." In pinwheel forest nobody ever bothered him, not even the rangers whenever he was following a pokémon. This forest didn't have a main road as well. Perhaps he should find a higher branch the next time. After the initial burst of protectiveness, Escavalier noticed he was out in the open and exposed in front of strangers. It uneased him so he hurried next to Burgh, pressing one of his lances against his leg. Burgh noticed and just patted his head a couple of times. "In any case i aplogize if we startled you."

"Not at all," Rivera replied with a smile. She decided to forgo admitting to her mistake of thinking he was a giant metapod. "Chaos here knows better than to pester people, not sure what he was thinking." She shot a glare at the bird on her shoulder, who hid his face behind his wing, though was stifling a caw of laughter. "I'm Rivera, by the way, Doctor Megan Rivera. This abra's name is Epic." She patted the abra's head, who hid further behind her coat. "He's really shy," she explained.

"An absolute pleasure to meet you doctor! My name is Burgh, artist and Gym leader of Castelia city." He finished with a less formal form of a bow, with added flourish for effect. "May I present you my present partner, Escavalier. Not to worry at all, as he is too shy around strangers." Escavalier just nodded and took a tiny step forward, still close to Burgh. The trainet in question took out a pokéball, releasing another one of them. "Another presentation is in order it seems. Leavanny, my first partner in crime." Unlike last time, Burgh just winked, while Leavanny just shook her head at her trainer's antics. In that moment Burgh noticed that the doctor's Abra hid a little more behind her. Best to leave the entire gathering for later. "While I would present the rest, it seems to me that your Abra might not be keen on it as well"

"Burgh..." Rivera echoed. "I think I've heard of you. Castelia is in Unova, correct? I've never actually been to Unova, but I almost got transferred to a lab in Icirrus City, so I did look into the region." She smiled and nodded a greeting at Burgh's two Pok?mon, all the while absentmindedly giving Epic reassuring strokes on his head. She glanced down at him as Burgh commented on his unease.
"Sorry," she said with a sheepish grin as she scooped the abra up in her arms. "He'll get over it." Rivera silently assessed that his shyness was probably heavily attributed to the fact that this stranger just presented himself as a gym leader. Epic knew that gyms meant battles, and he hated battles more than anything. So he was quite wary of the newcomers.
Chaos, on the other hand, was not shy at all. He promptly flew from Rivera's shoulder and landed in front of the two bug-types, chirping in a friendly hello, grinning happily.

"Yes, although Castelia as quite a bit ways from Icirrus. Much more warmer as well." Burgh then noticed a tug coming from Leavanny, where she then pointed to a shrub some steps away from the real Metapod. Oh so she wanted to sew leaves? He sneaked a glance to the Abra still hidden in the lab coat and nodded, craning his head slightly towards it so she could get the hint. Leavanny nodded and quickly set to work.
Then he turned to see the Murkrow, Chaos was it? Cawing and chirping to Escavalier. He was still wary as well but at least he was, well, "talking" for the lack of a better word. The sounds he did make weren't alike to chirps or other ones. More like metal actually. It did surprise him that Escavalier separated quite so much from him, more than 3 steps. Usually he would be attached to his leg. He was happy that he trusted a bit more people so he could make friends.

"And that's an escavalier," Rivera remarked, gazing at the bug Pok?mon. Epic seemed to have calmed down in her arms, so she allowed herself to pay more attention to the others around her. "I've never seen one in person! They've got unusual evolution properties, if I recall correctly, bug and steel type."
She took a small step closer, though stopped when she remembered his shy behavior earlier (she probably would not have noticed if she didn't own a Pok?mon that behaved the same way). "Sorry," she said. "My scientist nature took over a bit, there. He's a gorgeous Pok?mon."

The interest in Escavalier, and the further compliment raised Burgh's opinion of Riviera. Not many people were able to see how beautiful and spectacular bugs could be and it filled his heart with rainbows to hear it directed to Escavalier, causing him to start ranting excitedly. "Oh yes, they are uncommon to find in Unova as their evolution is not natural but triggered by trading it's previous form, Karrablast with a Shelmet, and the Shelment will evolve too, in an Accelgor. Truly curious that it is only by trading these two especific pokémon that their evolution can be unlocked, otherwise it will not work. And as astonishing it might seem, there are a couple of pokémon more possessing the same typing in Unova. Another of my partners is one of them, a Durant. She stayed back at the gym however."
Burgh didn't have a problem with the doctor getting closer to Escavalier, although he might have. He didn't seem to mind much, only shied away a bit. Perhaps it was because they were in a comfortable environment. He did hear the compliment, and bowed in his own way. Not many people thought he was appealing in other way than his battle strength, much less a woman, whom he was accustomed to squeal away and shy from his type.
"He thanks you for your compliment, and I as well" Burgh answered. "Not many people are keen on bugs and often overlook how wonderful they can reach to be."
((Burgh. Shut up. Please. Stop talking so much XD))

"He's very welcome," Rivera replied. She refrained from asking about his durant; she obviously couldn't take a look at her if she had been left at the gym.
Durants were also very interesting. According to experts, they supposedly coat themselves in steel to protect themselves. But steel makes them weaker to fire types such as heatmor, their number one predator. Noting this inconsistency, Rivera had been meaning to look into it further. Of course this originally came up when she was about to be transferred to Unova, but the subject was dropped off her priority list when the transfer didn't go through.
Besides; this was supposed to be her day off! Which meant no science, and no work. She really couldn't separate herself, could she? She shook her head at herself as she set Epic back on the ground. He still clung to her coat, but relaxed a little.
((Blah, random rambling is random. And. Uh. What now? ^^U))

((IDK, maybe go along with the supposed event? I'm not sure what's supposed to happen though))
The conversation would have taken an awkward turn with nothing to say then, however it was prevented by Leavanny returning with fresh leaves already fashioned in hoods and got closer to all of them. She did get closer to Murkrow and Escavalier, and secured one of the hoods on the bird pokémon. She didn't have one for Escavalier because she knew he was all grown up now. Perhaps if she found more good leaves she would, but the ones on this forest were all damaged so she didn't think it possible.
Then Leavanny turned to the Abra, and tried to be sympathetic and get close slowly, just as she had done with Escavalier when he was new or Joltik when he was scared.
